Tennessee Spring Break! || Personal Post

Tanner got a week off for Spring Break and we figured it would be the last long break for a while. We decided to take good advantage and travel 10 hours to visit my cousin in Tennessee! She has lived there for about 3 years and I hadn't seen her in a long time. She has two little kids. An almost two year old and a 4 month old. Her and I are exactly a year apart! I was really excited to see her and her family and explore Tennessee. Grahm did so well on the drive! He's always been a great traveler but you never know what you might get. The drive went really smooth and we took lots of stops to stretch our legs and let me walk around for a bit. We arrived at the house around 11:00 pm and got settled in.

The first day we took it easy and came up with a game plan for our week. We got some BBQ sandwiches for dinner which is a MUST in Tennessee. Duh!! Tuesday we hit Nashville! That was fun! Our first stop was the Tennessee State Museum. That place was pretty cool! We enjoyed that a lot. Next, we went over to the Parthenon. It's a full scale replica of the original Parthenon in Athens. It's at a beautiful park and there is an art museum inside which we decided not to do. We walked around the Parthenon and then went down the water and fed the ducks which turned into pigeons. We then went over the the Country Music Walk of fame thats directly across the street from the Country Music Hall of Fame. We aren't huge Country Music people so we decided to skip the tour at the Hall of Fame. We walked up and down Broadway Street that has lots of bars, shops and live music at just about every restaurant.

Wednesday we visited some homes that were in the middle of the battle field during the Civil War. They were told that there wouldn't be an attack that day so they decided to stay at their home rather than leave. Plans quickly changed and they went down to the cellar for safety for 12 hours while the battle was going on at their home. After the battle was over, both homes were used as a hospital of the wounded soldiers.

Thursday we went to the Nashville Zoo! I LOVE the Zoo! It was really pretty and they had some animals there that I hadn't seen before. I recently introduced Grahm to the movie Rio and at the zoo we saw some Blue McCaws. They are big beautiful birds and it was fun to see something Grahm could kind of relate to. We walked through the kangaroo cage and that was a new experience for us! There were lots of Kangaroos sun bathing in the nice weather and hopping around. After the Zoo we headed to a town called Franklin. There is a place called the Factory that used to be an old Factory, but now it has shops and treats. We got a cronut which was deeeelicious!! It's just what it sounds like. A mix between a donut and a croissant. We walked around the Factory for a little bit and then headed to Franklin's Main street. We walked Main which has lots of cute little boutiques and restaurants. We ate dinner that night in Franklin at a place called Puckett's. Live music is played while you eat and the food was really good! It's a busy place and a fun environment.

Friday we took the kids to the Monkey's Treehouse which is an indoor play place with different themed rooms. Something nice for the kids to run around and do and for us to just chill while the kids played. We got lunch at a place called Bojangles which Tanner had had before and wanted Grahm and I to try it. It was yummy but is very similar to KFC. We finished our day packing up our stuff and hanging out with my cousin.

Saturday we headed out on our long drive home. We made a pit stop at the Muhamid Ali Museum in Louisville, Kentucky. That was fun to learn about him and just to take a walking break.

We had a great break and it's so nice when Tanner isn't so consumed in school. I feel like we like each other a lot more when he doesn't have so much school to worry about. Haha! We really enjoyed our time as a family and it was greatly needed! The weather was absolutely perfect with all the spring blossoms! I was in my own little heaven! My cousin was a trooper putting up with us and Grahm's shenanigans. We are greatly appreciative of her and her family and their hospitality.
